Automobile
An automobile (from Greek auto, self and Latin
mobile moving, a vehicle that moves itself rather than being moved by
another vehicle or animal) or motor car (usually shortened to just car)
is a wheeled passenger vehicle that carries its own motor. Most definitions
of the term specify that automobiles are designed to run primarily on
roads, to have seating for one to eight people, to typically have four
wheels, and to be constructed principally for the transport of people
rather than goods. However, the term is far from precise.
Concept car
A concept car or show car is a car prototype made
to showcase a concept, new styling, technology and more. They are often
shown at motor shows to gauge customer reaction to new and radical designs
which may or may not have a chance of being produced.
Sports car
A sports car is an automobile designed for performance
driving. Most sports cars are rear-wheel drive, have two seats, two
doors, and are designed for precise handling, acceleration, and aesthetics.
A sports car's dominant considerations can be superior road handling,
braking, maneuverability, low weight, and high power, rather than passenger
space, comfort, and fuel economy.
Classic car
Classic car is a term frequently used to describe
an older car, but the exact meaning is subject to differences in opinion.
Some are very inclusive, considering any older car in fine condition
a classic. Others, including the "Concours d'Elegance" and the Classic
Car Club of America maintain that 1948 is the last year for the true
classics.
Used Car
A used car, also known as a pre-owned vehicle
and second hand car, is a vehicle that has previously had one or more
owners. Used cars are sold through a variety of outlets, which include
franchise and independent dealers, rental car companies, leasing companies,
and used car superstores. Some car retailers offer "no-haggle prices,"
and "certified" used cars, and extended service plans or warranties.
Individuals can also sell and purchase used cars through resources,
such as newspaper and online classifieds.
